Wet and windy was the theme of the day for Saturday’s opening race of the Gold Cup Series. Richmond Yacht Club kicked off the season with their annual Spring Regatta which saw over 30 boats out racing in testing conditions.

Heavy winds forecast for the day saw the race committee make the sensible decision to run the short course, with both Attitude and Sassinate flying across the finish line before midday.

By all accounts, a great day on the water was had – a good shakedown and the cobwebs blown out ready for a bumper keelboat season.

“A great race yesterday, fast, fun, fresh to frightening on the multi. Awesome” – Matt Woodley, past Commodore RAYC racing on board Attitude.

“Thank you race committee. Great day out.” – Steve Dunlop, Skipper, Attitude
