Royal Akarana sailors delivered a strong set of results across the fleets at Junior Sail Auckland 2026, with podium finishes in the 420, 29er, ILCA 6 and Optimist White classes.

In the 420 fleet, Zofia Wells and Charlotte Handley finished 3rd overall and 2nd girls, putting together a consistent series that kept them inside the top group throughout the event.

The 29er results were led by Blake Batten and Hugo Smith, who won seven of eight races to take the overall title. Hugh Kensington and Keaton Lay added another solid result for RAYC sailors in the class, finishing 5th after a strong start that included three 3rd?place finishes.

In the ILCA 6 class, Louis Quere finished 2nd overall, winning two races and showing reliable front?pack speed despite a RET and several DNCs affecting his total score.

The Starling fleet saw Stanley Ren finish 17th in a 27?boat division, with a best result of 12th in Race 3.

RAYC sailors were well represented in the Optimist fleets. In Optimist Open, Michael Schierhout, Ben Radich, Theo Davies, and Lucy Fenwick all completed the series, each producing solid individual race results in a large 54?boat fleet.

In Optimist White, Sammy Corcoran finished 4th overall with a race win, followed by Thea Ng in 6th and Freddie Molloy in 11th. Zofia Wells also competed in this fleet earlier in the regatta.
