RAYC sailors delivered a strong and consistent performance at the 2025 PCL 29er National Championships, held at Manly Sailing Club from May 29 to June 2. Over 14 races, six RAYC teams placed in the top 15โincluding four in the top 10.
Strong breeze over the weekend peaking at 36kts delivered ideal conditions for high-speed racing, pushing sailors to bring their best in both skill and strategy.
Leading the RAYC charge were Hugo Smith and Louis Quere, who claimed an impressive 3rd overall, with three race wins to their name. Close behind, Matteo Barker and Morgan Lay finished 4th overall, also picking up a race win.
Blake Batten and Merrick Sanderson sailed a steady regatta to finish 7th, followed closely by Peer Kruse and Leo Brown in 8th. Hugh and Sean Kensington rounded out the top ten with a solid 10th place finish, while Marlon Porteous and Callum Hyde also performed strongly, placing 13th overall.
A huge thank you to Manly Sailing Club for hosting a fantastic event, and to all the sponsors and volunteers who made it possible.
This championship marks the final major 29er event before several of our RAYC teams head to Europe for Kiel Week and the 29er European Championships in Italy. Stay tuned for updates and results from abroad!
Congratulations to all our sailors on their outstanding results, and best of luck to the teams heading to Europe!
