Royal Akarana Yacht Club is pleased to announce our new Vice Commodore, Linda Ross. With a career spanning more than 25 years in the clinical research and pharmaceutical development industry, Linda is a highly committed and experienced professional. Linda and her husband Alister are the proud parents of Logan and Rebecca who are both RAYC Academy sailors. Linda grew up boating with her family, which fostered a passion for the sea. This, coupled with her medical expertise led her to the NZ Coastguard. She served as the President of Kawau Coastguard for several years before transitioning to the Auckland unit, where she achieved the distinction of becoming New Zealand’s first female skipper.

Beyond her professional career, Linda has been an integral part of RAYC for many years, beginning when her son Logan started sailing at the age of 8. Linda’s commitment and leadership qualities shine through her roles as class representative and her significant contribution as a member of the General Committee for the past five years. During this time, Linda has played a pivotal role in nurturing the Academy’s growth including successfully navigating the challenges brought about by the pandemic. Furthermore, Linda was an integral part of the 2023 Feva Nationals organising team and is also the Event Manager for the upcoming Opti & Starling Auckland Champs, both events underscoring her exceptional organisational and leadership abilities. Linda’s contributions to the Club are highly appreciated and we look forward to all she will achieve in her new role as Vice Commodore.
