Okahu Bay has been a place of celebration this week as the new Doyle Sails and Royal Akarana Yacht Club major partnership kicks into gear, showcasing Doyle Sails‘ commitment to the local sailing fleets and events in New Zealand.
For more than four decades, Doyle Sails has been a devoted supporter of New Zealand clubs and sailors; their passion for sailing and creating opportunities for more people to experience the sport reaches far and wide.
Doyle Sails has been a long-term partner of the RAYC Academy, and this new partnership now expands to the wider club. While continuing to support the RAYC Academy and our Learn to Sail and Race Fleets, additional support is directed toward developing our renowned Blue Water Programme, club racing, and exciting future projects.
The collaboration is a natural fit for Doyle Sails and their team within the Royal Akarana Yacht Club moving forward. RAYC provides Doyle Sails with access to some of the top grassroots and blue water yachting in New Zealand, and Doyle Sails brings to the table a wealth of expertise and opportunity for sailors to expand their experience through world-renowned sailors . Already the involvement of Mike Sanderson, Andrew Brown and David Duff with RAYC enriches the club’s community, offering members the unique opportunity to learn from some of the best in the sport.
As part of this new partnership, the Royal Akarana Yacht Club proudly announces that Doyle Sails has signed on as the naming rights sponsor of the Gold Cup and the club’s Summer and Winter series. This will continue to be enhanced through guest speaking events, workshops, or directly competing in races, Doyle Sails’ network of expert sailors serves as a bridge between local yachting enthusiasts and the broader global sailing community. This exchange of knowledge and expertise is invaluable, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement among club members.
The partnership is a testament to a shared vision of promoting sailing as a sport and nurturing the next generation of sailing talent
“RAYC is so excited to continue to work with Doyle Sails in this new capacity. Doyle Sails shares our vision and recognises the efforts RAYC has put into getting kids into sailing and keeping them on the water over the years,” says RAYC Commodore, Nick Hanson.
“The unwavering support of Doyle Sails means that RAYC, our Academy, Club racing, and Bluewater program will continue to go from strength to strength, and we will be able to continue to offer our sailors and members exciting opportunities”.
“Doyle Sails is thrilled with the significant partnership with the Royal Akarana Yacht Club. My family and I sail out of the club frequently, and I am very impressed with the facilities and programmes that are on offer for grassroots sailing; getting more people in the sport is very important, and this club is constantly pushing the boat out so to speak in terms of ways to encourage and support this”, says Mike Sanderson, Doyle Sails CEO. “The Bluewater Sailing series is also vital for New Zealand sailing to safeguard the expertise and experience New Zealand sailors are world renowned for.”
Doyle Sails has also kindly offered 15% off new sails to all RAYC members!
