A rare opportunity exists to join the RAYC Flying 15 fleet. Julian Reeves and Greg Taylor’s boat is for sale with a preference for an RAYC member to purchase it to join the fleet at the club. Built for Richard McAlister and fitted out originally by Andrew Brown, this carbon epoxy boat has been lightly used. The boat won the Nationals in 2013.  It just needs a few new ropes and a new crew! Jump in now and be ready for the 2027 World Champs which RAYC are in the running to host!

The Flying 15 is the largest keelboat fleet in the world with over 4200 boats registered.  The fleet’s success is based on strict one-design rules and strong class management. This leads to close racing at all levels. At the 2023 World Championship sailors ranged from 16 to 83 years in age, and around 60 kg to well at least double that! Crews include couples, parent and child, mates who sailed together in the 80’s, people reliving their past semi-pro sailing lives and people still on their road to greatness.

The fleet has an annual traveller series around NZ, as well as regular attendance at world championships, the next being in Weymouth in 2025. The Auckland fleet is coached by Graeme Robbins, there are opportunities to partake in group fitness and much much more.

Now is the time for you to get back sailing!
