Here at the Royal Akarana Yacht Club, we are on a mission to build reciprocal arrangements with like-minded clubs around the world, enhancing the value of RAYC membership, and offering a  global experience for members.

We’re excited to announce early success in this direction,  by establishing reciprocity with two highly respected Australian yacht clubs: the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron (RMYS) and the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron (RSYS).

What This Means for Our Members

As a member of the Royal Akarana Yacht Club, you now have access  to enjoy the facilities, events, and services of both the RMYS and RSYS when visiting Melbourne and Sydney. Whether you’re planning a sailing adventure, looking for a venue to host friends and family,  or simply looking to connect with fellow sailors in Australia, these clubs offer a warm welcome and a wealth of resources to enhance your experience.

Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron (RMYS)

Located in the heart of Melbourne, the RMYS is one of Australia’s oldest and most prestigious sailing clubs. With history dating back to 1853, the club has a busy yachting calendar, with highly competitive racing and training as well as a vibrant social sailing scene and a strong commitment to promoting the sport of sailing. As a reciprocal member, you’ll have access to their marina, dining options, and exclusive events.

Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron (RSYS)

Founded in 1862, the RSYS is synonymous with excellence in sailing. Situated on the picturesque Kirribilli waterfront, the club offers breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour and an array of world-class amenities. Including fully furnished rooms and waterfront apartments which RAYC members will now be able to access at the RSYS member rate. From competitive sailing to leisurely cruises, RSYS provides a welcoming environment for sailors of all levels. Our members can also enjoy the clubhouse, participate in races, and attend social gatherings.

How to Take Advantage of Reciprocal Rights

To access reciprocal privileges at both the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron (RMYS) and the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron (RSYS), please email Taz at [email protected] with your travel dates. An introduction letter will be arranged and sent to the respective yacht club ahead of your arrival. Upon arrival, you’ll only need to present your Royal Akarana Yacht Club membership card. We recommend contacting us well in advance to ensure all arrangements are in place and note that access to facilities is subject to availability.
