Our junior sailors and members showed amazing results at the Auckland Championships, particularly across the Opti and Starling fleets despite the massive conditions.
In the Optimist fleet, Flora Stevens finished an impressive 6th overall and was the top female sailor. She was followed by Tom Sanderson (32nd), Nico Cheng (49th, completed every race), Lucas Lee (53rd) and Jock Morrison (55th).
In White Fleet, Lucas Kattera finished 7th, Tommy OโConnor 8th, Theo Davies 11th (including a 4th place finish), Thea Ng 13th, and Ben Radich 15th.
The Starling fleet saw Stavro Pudie place 18th overall, recording 3rd and 4th place finishes despite carrying a UFD. Other results included Niko Purdie (22nd), Rylen Schussler (29th), Anthonio Mitalaukas (31st), Ashton Cooke (33rd, carrying two DNCs), Lachie Gillies (38th), Jessica Lee (54th) and Eason Lan (59th).
Oceanbridge sailors also delivered a standout weekend of racing, highlighted by class wins in the 29er, 49er FX and 420, along with third-place finishes in the 29er, IQ Foil and 420.
In the 29er fleet, Hugo Smith and Blake Batten claimed 1st overall in just their second regatta racing together, finishing the series with four race wins. Oli Stone and Nelsen Meachem placed 3rd, Matteo Barker and Leo Brown finished 6th, Merrick Sanderson and Harry Draper 13th, and James Currell and Jack Harker 15th.
The 49er FX was dominated by Rebecca and Nicola Hume, who took 1st overall after winning 11 of the 15 races. In the 49er fleet, Hamish McLaren and Francesco Kayrouz finished 11th.
Across the Olympic pathway fleets, Eli Liefting secured 3rd in IQ Foil. In the 420 class, Zofia Wells and Charlotte Handley won the regatta with 7 wins from 10 races. Nate Soper and Hamish Brown added another podium with 3rd, while Ashton Cooke and Charlie Bridger finished 5th.
In the ILCA fleets, Sophia Morgan placed 17th in ILCA 6, including a race win and finishing 5th female. In ILCA 7, Zach Stibbe finished 5th, Beau Utting 8th, and Villiame Ratulu (Fiji) 10th.
