The 2025โ2026 Doyle Sails Akarana Series showcased strong participation and consistent racing across multiple junior and youth fleets at theย Royal Akarana Yacht Club. In the Optimist Open Fleet, Michael Schierhout delivered a dominant performance, securing the overall win with multiple race victories and a low nett score. Close competition followed behind, with Theo Davies and Jock Morrison rounding out the top three.
In the Optimist Green Fleet, Tommy OโConnor proved the most consistent sailor, taking first place through a series of top finishes, ahead of Sammy Corcoran and Oliver Sun. The fleet demonstrated depth and development, with a larger number of entries and improvedย results across the series.
Other fleets also saw standout performances. Stavro Purdie dominated the Starling Fleet with an almost flawless scoreline, while Emma Crane was similarly commanding in the ILCA 6 fleet, winning every counted race.
The season concluded with the Junior Club Championships, bringing the summer racing calendar to a close on a high note. Across all fleets, sailors demonstrated the progress built over the series, with tight racing and confident performances throughout the regatta. The results highlighted the depth of talent within the club and reflected a season of growth, consistency, and competitive spiritโmarking a fitting end to a successful summer of sailing at the Royal Akarana Yacht Club.
None of this would have been possible without the generous support ofย Doyle Sails. Their ongoing commitment to junior sailing has played a key role in making the series accessible and competitive, supporting the development of young sailors and the continued success of the clubโs racing programme.
