Update from Sailing Committee – 5 Sept 2013

It’s now less than two weeks to the SPRING Sail Akarana regatta which we are hosting on the 14/15 September. The regatta is also the Elliot 5.9 Auckland Champs, so we are expecting a great turn out from them as well as a sneak preview of their new boats. Sailing Committee member Russ Evans will be looking after the regatta and I am sure will more than make up for my absence while I attend my mother’s wedding.

Are you planning on racing?  If yes, then please assist by entering early

If you can’t make it out to sail then how about putting up your hand to help on either day on board the Start Boat or a Safety Boat? This year everyone is expected to help out at least twice, so get your turn over and done with!If you’re keen to assist then please contact Suellen – suellen@rayc.co.nz

This weekend sees RAYC members involved in a number of regattas both overseas and in New Zealand.

Helena Horswell –  Access Liberty Servo Class World Champion, will be racing at the North American Championship in San Francisco. This event is being held at the same venue as the World Champs to be raced in September 2014. Helena is using the event as training and is bravely using a charter boat which will need to be fitted with her electronics on arrival. Check out her progress here.

Stephen Jones, RAYC Treasurer, is racing at the Nespresso 18ft skiff International Regatta at St Francis Yacht Club.  Follow his results here.
