The M Class Special
The Tuesday Club
25th February – From 6:30pm
The big new boatshed at the Hyundai Marine Sports Centre
Yes its time to get under the hood of these pimped boats from Howard Spencer’s Fleet. Not only that but we’ll have an older boat there to compare to, Myth. Side by side in all their glory, or warts and all, whichever way you see it.
Matt Mitchell, who has restored Menace, Mach One and Matara, will be there to talk us through the upgrade, the why, and the how. From my point of view, I cannot believe how well these boats are set up to sail, from new running rigging to carbon sticks, they are exceptional and anyone with an ounce of salt in their blood will love to look at them close up.
We are hoping some of our members will join in and talk through the history of the class as well.
But the fun bit is only just about to start. As an ongoing Tuesday Club project we will be stripping the M-Class Myth back and starting again with her. Myth’s journey will be to hang her in the atrium of the new club, so she will need to be prepared for that.
But its not a complete decommission, its just a step in the right direction so Myth can then go to Sydney to be part of the 100th anniversary of this mythical fleet (see what I did there), and then eventually come back to the atrium.
Be part of this inaugural event. Come down, get involved. Ask the questions you want answered. Drink a beer or a wine, and have one of John Easts special fried sausages. You know you want one.
