RAYC proud to host the 2020 Magic 25 National Championships

The Magic 25 fleet will come to the Royal Akarana Yacht Club for the first time in many year for a hotly contested event, for which boats travel from Auckland and Taupo. Racing takes place of the 15-16th February.

The Magic 25’s are a one design sportboat, designed by Iain Murray. There are four crew on board, three of which on the trapeze. The boat is fast paced, yet much more stable than a skiff, with 400kg bulb on the lifting keel.

There are some hot favourites in the fleet, and some big questions are being asked:

Will ‘Sign It’, helmed by Cliff Gordon, fresh from a handicap win at Bay of Islands Sailing Week, continue with his successful formula?

Will ‘W8 Up’ , first on line at Bay of Islands Sailing Week, and current holder of the Magic Trophy (an odds on favourite) continue his hugely successful two year run?

Will ‘Enigma’, with its keel bulb finally repaired, close the three point overall gap between it and ‘W8 Up’ from the Bay of Islands Sailing Week regatta?

Will ‘Team Sex’, fully spanked at Bay of Islands Sailing Week, bounce back on top at this regatta?

Will ‘Houdini’, with the super experienced but newest owner of the fleet, shine?

Will ‘2 Mile 2 Good’, with the crack team from 2 Mile Bay sailing centre and new sails take it out?

How will the dark horse ‘Lumberjack’, with cherry- picked crew, how will they do?

And lastly, ‘Maine Magic’ is for sale, if you would like to join this great group, check it out on Trade Me! It’s all to play for on the Waitemata.

Come on down to witness some exciting sport boat action run from RAYC and the Hyundai Marine Centre.
