RAYC Members 1st and 2nd at Red Bull Youth AC

The NZL Sailing with ETNZ have won the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup as the only team to win two races. Fellow kiwis Full Metal Jacket Racing have finished second, meaning that New Zealand has dominated this prestigious event.

RAYC has members on both teams, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.

The names and faces on board these two boats are sure to be the future of any America’s Cup campaigns – and rightly so.

They celebrated with sparking Napa Valley apple juice whilst bouncing around on the AC45 trampoline.

“We couldn’t be happier!” said Burling during his final on board interview.

“I’m sure we will be out tonight celebrating!” Burling continued. Yes, we bet they will. Look out San Francisco, the Kiwi boys are about to show you their dance floor skills!

Will Tiller and the Full Metal Jacket Racing boys are “stoked”. “We had a good battle, disappointed we couldn’t have a crack at the final race, but we’re happy,” said Tiller.

“We’re looking forward to tonight!” continued Tiller.

There was just one point separating Tiller from third place.

When Tiller was asked if Kiwis were the best sailors in the world he responded with “We like to think so!”

Third was Portugal who started the regatta strong. Congratulations to them – well deserved.
