RAYC Jog Design Competition, judges findings and comments

Three years ago this Newsletter published information about the RAYC 1968 Design competition which was won by Hal Wagstaff out of 54 entries.  The yacht that was built from his design, Tangaroa, Hal says is still owned by Bruce Diggin.  It was designed to the Junior Offshore Group (JOG) rules.

Some time ago Mullet boats were raced by the RAYC.  Two of these were owned by RAYC members Keith Peachey (Snr) and Keith Peachey (Jnr). The latter owned the Mullet boat Wairoaand he died in April this year, a few months after turning the first sod to start the building of our new Club house. Hal tells us that a family in Auckland owns four or five Mullet boats and that the family have a history of building more Olympic Games winners than anyone else in the country.
