Provincial Cowboy wins Round North Island Race

At the Shorthanded Sailing Association of New Zealand’s Round North Island Prize Giving, it was announced that Royal Akarana Yacht Club member Simon Manning, with his crew mate Nathan Williams sailing Provincial Cowboy, won the 2017 Round North Island Race.

This is a great achievement for Simon and Nathan, who are both stocked with the result.

“It feels pretty good to have won! We were pleasantly surprised to have gone as well as we did right around the track,” said Simon.

Posted on the Provincial Cowboy Facebook page, “We had a cool night at Devonport Yacht Club at the SSANZ RNI 2017 Prizegiving. Great to catch up with so many of the other crews from our shared adventure. It was a very successful evening for the PC crew – including the big one – Overall PHRF Winner for RNI 2017. Nice also to get the boat onto the RNI Honours Board for the 4 divisional winners and also share the Eric Wing Trophy – again with the 3 other divisional winners (Blink, Sunfast and Oracle). That rules a line under the 2017 race for us, Nathan and Gillian are off cruising to Tonga soon and the next racing for PC is not yet decided. A huge thanks to Cath and Gillian for their support and thanks again to SSANZ.”
