Provincial Cowboy takes on Cape Brett

RAYC Sailing Committee member Simon Manning is currently battling the elements at Cape Brett. Why? Because he is getting his boat north for the Bay of Islands Sailing Week which kicks off on Wednesday.

But Manning is also doing the SSANZ Round North Island Race, and the delivery north is showcasing the kind of elements that he might get experience during that race.

For the Round North Island Race, Manning has teamed up with Nathan Williams, and together they will take on the challenging race on the Ross40 Provincial Cowboy.

An update on the Provincial Cowboy Facebook Page stated that the team saw a top wind gust of 46 knots.

“Cape Brett was not so friendly today compared to all the holiday snaps we have seen from others this summer. Max gust recorded was 46kn. Lots of white water and lifting gusts as we came through.”

The conditions they are currently experiencing will be like those they will encounter during the various legs of the race.
