The opening of RAYC’s 120th sailing season is this Sunday 18th October! Yes we know it clashes with a certain game being played on the other side of the world, however the cafe will be open from 7.30am and serving breakfast, so please come down early and enjoy what will hopefully be a fantastic sporting event.
From 9.00am until midday we will be running free 30min TRYsailing and TRYpaddling in Okahu Bay. This is open to anyone who wants to try out sailing or paddling so please come down and make the most of this.
The long-range weather forecast is looking good, with only a few clouds in the afternoon for the race for the Ffemmy. We will also have the 12ft & 18ft skiffs racing with RAYC for the first time which will be a great moment for the Club with the two yacht clubs combining resources to run the Opening Day Racing. Also racing will be the RAYC Junior fleet, who will take to the waters in Okahu Bay, racing Optimists and Fevas in the Summer Series for the first time ever!
While the racing is going on, the life-members lunch will be served at the yacht club, with members able to view the juniors racing in the bay, and the seniors just outside the breakwater.
After the sailors and paddlers are done racing there will be a BBQ, scheduled for 4.30pm, for all competitors and families, followed by a prizegiving at 4.45pm. This is going to be a fantastic day both on the water and off, so bring your family down and make the most of it!
See you there!
