Notice of Race and Online Entry released for Auckland Fiji Yacht Race 2020

The Royal Akarana Yacht Club’s Auckland Fiji Yacht Race will set sail on Saturday 30th May 2020 with a fleet of offshore yachts and multihulls competing in the 1,100nm endurance event across the Pacific Ocean.

The Notice of Race has been released for the event, and entries are now open for those Category 1 boats who are eligible and determined to make the crossing.

The fastest recorded time for the race was the ORMA 60 trimaran Frank Racing (formally Team Vodafone Sailing), who finished the race in 2 days 11 hours 31 minutes 03 seconds. The monohull record stands at 2 days 22 hours 53 minutes 19 seconds, which was set by the VOR70 Giacomo. Both these records were set during the 2016 edition of the race.

While the race fleet will hit the start line on Saturday 30th May, the cruising and two-handed divisions will already be on their way, with their race start happening on Thursday 28th May to give them a head start on the fully crewed fleet. The start line is located in the traditional RAYC area off the Orakei Wharf with the finish near the reef entrance at Momi Bay in Fiji. The boats then make their way to Denarau Marine where they are greeted by the team from RAYC and the Denarau Yacht Club.
