Menace lines up for MC38 Australian Championship

Howard Spencer and his MC38 Menace crew are in Sydney (Pittwater) ready to rumble in the MC38 Australian Championship over the next three days.

Hosted by Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, Menace goes into this regatta after claiming the 2015 Season Championship, but Spencer and his crew know they need to work hard to stay at the pointy end of the fleet.

“Our biggest threats are Dark Star and Ginger, but Assassin is looking awesome at the moment so we need to stay focused for every second on the water,” said Spencer on his way to the boat this morning.

“With 11 races scheduled, every one of them is important. But we are ready,” continued Spencer.

Although Menace is missing Frances Spencer and their regular tactician Ray Davies, they have an impressive crew lined up for the Australian Championship.

Howard Spencer, James Dagg, Alistar Gair, George Brasell, Danielle Bowater and Nick Burridge are all on board with Will Tiller stepping in as tactician. The crew is rounded out by token Aussie Mildred Bennett.

“This fleet is fast and the racing is incredibly close. If you blink at the wrong time you might miss the game changing shift,” said Tiller.

Racing gets underway today.
