Sunday saw some near perfect champagne sailing.
A warm northerly 10 to 12 knots all afternoon made for some great racing. With five boats on the start line for two harbour courses, there was a real opportunity to make the most of the superb conditions.
Course two was set for the M-Class fleet.
As the boats raced to North Head it was clear we were going to see some close racing. Lap one saw the lead change on numerous occasions with Mach One finally showing their all round performance to stretch out in front followed by Marksman, Menace, Matara and then Marlin. With the five boats eventually finishing in that order. What was great to see was how well the handicap system worked, with four boats all finishing within two minutes of each other.
Race two saw the same course and a similar outcome, however the first leg to North Head saw some very close racing between the fleet. The end result was the same as Race one, however the battle for second place saw one of the closest finishes between Marksman and Menace, with Marksman taking second by a whisker.
For those of you that missed out on the day, check out the photos taken by Brad Davies, hopefully that will help to entice you to get your boats back down to the club!!!
Look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year, in the meantime enjoy the festive season.
