After 2 weeks Laser sailing on Thursday nights, the body is not getting any more used to it, leaving me near death on Fridays!! Stomach cramps coming back in last night..
Results have been all over the place with lots of swims due to a severe lack of skills. Scoreline so far reads 8,7,2,8,2,3….
Typical races (last night) are:
Race 1. Capsize at start bearing away to miss Starboard tacker. Dead last away from start. Claw my way up to around 4th on the beat, capsize at the top mark, (life jacket caught on boom). Very potty mouth has a mind of its own at this point. Struggle around course to get back to 8th.
Race 2, glamour start, better down-winds, almost catch first place boat on line, 2nd.
Race 3, rubbish start, clawed my way up to 3rd, but opposition had sailed away.
It’s a great mix of old farts and youngsters, and good banter all around. Highly recommended.
Thanks RAYC for excellent work, with all the helpers rigging and de-rigging. Amazing. Thanks also to Matthew Woodley for the encouragement to get out there.
Simon Manning missed you!! Craig Coulam and Tony Nicholson you have targets on your backs now!
