Kiwis on top at Etchells Europeans

Royal Akarana Yacht Club Etchells sailors Andrew Wills, Anatole Masfen and Matt Kelway are leading the way at the 2016 Etchells Open European Championship at Cowes.

“We haven’t done much practice so far for the worlds, so we are very happy with the results today.” commented Andrew Wills. “Our speed is good but we are not taking anything for granted. To be honest, we got lucky with the shifts today. We have sailed together for over ten years, so spending ten hours on a boat together is not a problem. We hope we can continue the good form tomorrow.”

Great work by these kiwis who are leading the fleet of 50 boats by three points. They are the only crew from New Zealand and there are seven Aussies racing with the highest place being Chris Hampton, Sam Haines and Mark Andrews who are in third.
