King and Queen of the Harbour

The annual King and Queen of the Harbour took place on the Auckland Harbour on the 28/29th April.

A number of RAYC athletes competed in the 27km course from Long Bay to Eastern Beach in crazy conditions.

There were a number of standout performers, including Andrew Mowlem who was second across the line to the 2014 ICF World Champion, Cory Hill. This is an outstanding achievement as there were a large number of world class athletes behind Andy, many of these being professional athletes, including Mark Anderson (Australia), Zsolt Szadovski (Hungary), Moehau Paie (Tahiti), Makenzie Hynard (Australia) and many others.

Conditions were very tough, with 20-30knot squals and sheeting rain for most of the course. 186 paddlers registered for the largest oceanski race in New Zealand.
