Construction Contract Signed

The Akarana Marine Sports Charitable Trust, in association with Royal Akarana Yacht Club is pleased to announce that the construction contact with Fletcher Construction has now been signed, signifying the commencement of the new Hyundai Marine Sports Centre which will be built on the current RAYC site.

Initial work to demolish the current RAYC clubrooms will begin within the next three months and during this time fundraising will continue for the complete fit out of the new building.

Fletcher Construction has been commissioned to manage the entire development process and will construct the complete building and a fully operational ground floor, due to open in early 2018.

Royal Akarana Yacht Club will continue to operate as normal until a final move out date in October 2016 and at this time will be relocated to temporary facilities at the Auckland Sailing Club building some 300m down the Okahu Bay ramp.

Members will be invited to assist with the pack down of the current club and the historical memorabilia as well as decommissioning of the storage sheds to utilise and up-cycle building materials.

A complete time line of the build process will be provided in the coming weeks outlining key dates of the redevelopment.
