The Tauranga Centreboard regatta was held over the weekend, with many different fleets taking part but a first for the O’Pen BIC fleet.
Akarana Sailors Morgan Lay and Sam Dold traveled down to compete.
Day 1 started with blustery winds of 20+knots, sending quite a few sailors to shore early, but those that stuck it out had a great day’s racing.
Day 2 was polar opposite, with bright blue skies, mirror calm water and no wind.
A slight sea breeze eventually blew in and racing got underway. Phoebe Andrew from Manly Sailing Club took first place and Morgan Lay and Sam Dold from RAYC placed 2nd and 3rd.
Well done to our sailors! Keep up the great work!
