Skiff Report Hyundai Summer Series Sunday 24 March

Sally Garrett and her race team, assisted by volunteers from the Flying Fifteen fleet, put on three excellent races for the M-Class Scott Wilson Trophy on another glorious Summer’s afternoon with a gentle Easterly wind. Two RS700s cleared the first start with pace leaving two moths bobbing around in a lull. Stuart Goodes mastered the tricky conditions to overhaul the two Neils leaving the on-line results as

1. Moth 3644 Goodes
2. RS700 775 Vittesse McCallum
3. RS700 721 Big Buoy II Sanders
4. Moth 3816 Def Con One Evans

The second race was another tortoise and hare re-run with the moths accelerating into pressure on the Devonport shore like two Hyundai Veloster 1.6 Turbo A6’s but lowriding around the sheltered top mark and giving up time. Out of the RS700’s Neil McCallum chose the best track up the work, sticking by the wave break out of the tide.

1. Moth 3644 Goodes
2 Moth 3816 Def Con One Evans
3. RS700 775 Vittesse McCallum
4. RS700 721 Big Buoy II Sanders

On corrected time the 700’s will have whopped the moths, who look forward to returning in more breeze.

The final harbour course was contested just by the 700s and again NMac prevailed.
