Over $10k raised at Davies/Burridge Dinner

It was a sold out event for dinner with Ray Davies and Nick Burridge on Friday 14th July with 50 people attending the evening.

Special guest speakers were ETNZ Sailing Coach Ray Davies and Boat Captain Nick Burridge, who took time out of their hectic schedules to tell members and guests about their involvement with winning the 35th America’s Cup.

You could hear a pin drop in the room when they described the ins and outs of choosing foils, repairing the boat after the pitch pole incident and how everything came together to conquer Oracle Team USA in Bermuda.

There was also an auction which included a Hyundai IONIQ 100% Electric Car for one month, Sailing Experiences on the 18′ Skiff Yamaha and Explore NZ America’s Cup boats, a photoshoot with Live Sail Die and one of Ray’s life jackets which fetched $4,200 on the night. The life jacket will be framed and available for all members to admire in the new club rooms when they open in Spring 2018.

Over $10,000 was raised on the night thanks to our speakers and the great items up for grabs.

Thank you to all those who attended the evening and to the team of volunteers who made the club rooms look amazing for the evening.
