There are less than 30 Fevas racing in New Zealand. There are 165 at the Worlds in Santander, Spain, and the current New Zealand National Champions, Eli Liefting and Rose Dickson, are now placed 4th overall with one day of racing to go.

Eli & Rose began their Feva racing at Royal Akarana Yacht Club just two years ago and have only competed in a handful of regattas in the class since then, however as a club, we encourage the kids to use the boats and train as much as required.

They are coached by world class yachtsman Chris Dickson, who is also mentoring them through this world championship regatta.

“The had a good day competing in four races and they were in the hunt! Rose and Eli had placings of 4th ,11th, 3rd and 14th today to move up to 4th overall. One day and three races to go. Rose and Eli have consistent results, are well placed and right in touch with the leaders going into tomorrow’s final day,” said Dickson.

This is a great achievement for these young sailors and with just one day to go, we wish them the best of luck for the remaining three races.

Royal Akarana Yacht Club is hosting the third annual Feva National Championship in April 2017.
